Sweet pepper

Sweet pepper, also called Capsicum or paprika, has become a staple vegetable for the local Jordanian market as well as for export to the Gulf and even Europe.

Tomato

The production of tomato is unlike any other crop in Jordan. Around 32% of all cultivated crops grown are tomatoes.

Squash

The main squash variety grown in Jordan is a small but very tasty vegetable. It is also known as zucchini or courgette.

Lettuce

A relatively easy to grow crop, lettuce is grown all year round and accounts for around 3.5% of total cultivated crop area in Jordan.

Cucumber

The cucumber variety grown in Jordan is small, crunchy and with lots of flavour.

Dates

Growing date palm trees in Jordan is a recent success story and the sector has been growing steadily over the past two decades.

Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

The Embassy of the Netherlands is the main partner in Jordan. They are the linking pin between the different Dutch programmes on agriculture, water and education in Jordan and ensure close cooperation between activities.
